Pregnancy with the help of in vitro fertilization is not an indication for regular monitoring of fetal echocardiography

A study from the Yale University School of Medicine in Connecticut found no difference between the incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) during IVF pregnancies and conventional conception. The study’s findings contradict current guidelines from the American Heart Association, the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine, and the American Society of Echocardiography, which recommend routine echocardiographic screening. However, study leader Dr Bjorkman and colleagues found no support for this claim, as the rate of clinically significant CHD detected by the fetal ecosystem in pregnancies without other risk factors was only 0.2 percent. This study should remove the additional burden for patients who use in vitro fertilization (IVF).
