Types of surrogate motherhood

Let’s consider what types of surrogate motherhood exist. The most common type is gestational surrogacy, in which an embryo created by the method of in vitro fertilization (IVF) using the egg and sperm of the intended parents or donors is transferred to the womb of the surrogate mother. There is also traditional non-motherhood surrogacy, in which the surrogate mother uses her own egg and the intended father’s sperm. So the surrogate mother has a genetic connection with the child, this creates ethical and legal problems and therefore this method is almost never used and in some countries it is prohibited. There is also compensated surrogacy, this is an agreement on surrogacy, according to which the surrogate mother receives compensation for her services. And altruistic surrogacy is a surrogacy arrangement in which the surrogate mother receives no compensation for her services other than reimbursement of medical expenses. Agency surrogacy is an agreement on surrogacy under which the intended parents and surrogate mother work with a surrogacy agency.
