A special Oireachtas committee is to be set up in Ireland to consider the recognition of international commercial surrogacy agreements. It became obvious that it is necessary to legally regulate such areas as surrogate motherhood, IVF and other reproductive issues. And most likely the new laws will allow only altruistic surrogacy and ban commercial surrogacy on the territory of Ireland. But there are many people who turn to countries where commercial surrogacy is allowed, such as the USA or Ukraine. That is why officials warn that the issue of international surrogate motherhood needs attention in order to avoid double standards and harm the rights of children and parents.
