Traditional Surrogacy Vs. Gestational Surrogacy

A baby is one of the most wonderful miracles in life. However, there are still many people who cannot conceive. According to recent reports, 10%-15% of couples deal with infertility every year.
As a result, many couples have started looking into alternatives. Like egg donation, IVF treatments, and surrogacy to build their families.
Traditional surrogacy is a process that the surrogate is artificially inseminated with the intended father’s or donor’s sperm. A traditional surrogate mother is genetically related to the baby. She is also the egg donor because she uses her own eggs.
The gestational surrogacy is an even more cone of the greatest joys every parent can ever know. However, there are still many people who cannot conceive. According to recent reports, 10%-15% of couples deal with infertility every year. As a result, many couples look into alternatives like egg donation, IVF treatments, and surrogacy as their final option. Surrogacy is an arrangement whereby a woman agrees to be implanted with to build as their families.
Rather than adopt a child, many aspiring parents choose to use another couple’s fertilized egg and to carry a pregnancy to term. The woman who carries the embryo is the surrogate mother. Surrogacy is a complicated medical process. There are two main types: traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy. Complicated process, whereby the surrogate carries a baby that was conceived using both the egg and sperm from the intended parents or donors. In this case, the surrogate mother has no genetic relationship to the baby.
The Difference Between Traditional Surrogacy and Gestational Surrogacy
The main difference between traditional and gestational surrogacy is whether the surrogate mother has a genetic link to the baby. However, it is also essential for the intended parents and surrogate mothers to understand the other primary differences between traditional and gestational surrogacy:
Egg Donor:
A traditional surrogacy doesn’t need egg donation because the surrogate mother acts as both the egg donor and the actual surrogate. With gestational surrogacy, the process of egg donation is required to create the embryo the surrogate mother carries. Usually, LGBT couples, single fathers, and women who have a disease, such as an adulatory disorder. Prefer traditional surrogacy or need the assistance of an egg donor in gestational surrogacy.
Medical Procedures:
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is the medical procedure that traditional surrogacy uses to help the intended father’s sperm transfer directly into the surrogate mother’s uterus. In gestational surrogacy, the intended parents usually use their own eggs and sperm. Therefore, surrogacy clinics have to use the technology of in vitro fertilization (IVF). It produces embryos and transfers a healthy embryo to the surrogate mother’s uterus.
