Positive Impressions of Egg Donation Process
A woman is born with about 1 million eggs, with about 300,000 remaining by the time she reaches puberty.
During her fertile years, a woman releases about 400 eggs at ovulation.
Knowing this, I wanted to help the couple realize their dream of becoming parents.
Therefore, at the age of 21, I became an egg donor for the first time.
By donating my egg, I am only contributing to parenthood — more than that, I am giving the mother-to-be the opportunity to have a child of her own.
And I do not consider the child born thanks to my egg to be my child.
Because this is not the child I would ever have.
After screening, the donor is assigned a fertility specialist who also manages the recipient’s in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.
A contraceptive is then prescribed with specific instructions as to when to start taking it.
Approximately on the 12th day after the start of injections, the withdrawal date is appointed.
Now that I am over 30, I learn more and more about friends and colleagues who are trying to get pregnant and I understand that I did the right thing.
