How in vitro fertilization (IVF) helps in the fight against infertility

Louise Brown was the first child to be conceived in a laboratory using in vitro fertilization (IVF), she was born in 1978.

Since then, thanks to this method, millions of people have been born.

In the process of artificial insemination, the sperm is placed directly in the uterus, and conception occurs naturally.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) involves combining eggs and sperm outside the woman’s body in a laboratory.

In cases where a man’s sperm count is extremely low or has poor motility, IVF can be combined with a procedure called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

In this procedure, the highest quality sperm is taken and injected directly into the egg cell.

After fertilization, there is a process of embryo cultivation, which takes up to 5 days.

Then the formed embryo is placed in the uterus.

When the embryo implants in the uterus, pregnancy occurs.
