My experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF)
When it was two years since I first tried to get pregnant, my doctor recommended I try in vitro fertilization (IVF).
This is a method of assisted reproductive technology (ART) during which eggs are removed from a woman’s ovaries and mixed with a man’s sperm in a laboratory.
The resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus.
IVF was the last resort for me.
Therefore, when I found out that I was pregnant, I felt relief after the disappointment and physical discomfort of unsuccessfully trying to conceive for 18 months.
Now I thank God every day for my adorable little son and think that our family is ready for another happy addition.
Sometimes, when I think about the fact that if there was no in vitro fertilization (IVF) method, then we would not have children at all.
In these moments, I am infinitely grateful to science and medicine, for this best opportunity in the world to be parents.
